Celebrities getting married can get a little bit extra at times. From the choice of clothes to the amount of money splurged, celebrity weddings can be really outrageous and even pointless. In no particular order, we have come up with a list of five of the craziest celebrity weddings on anyone’s book.
David and Victoria Beckham
A classic tale of football boy meets posh pop superstar, David Beckham and then Victoria Adams got hitched about two decades ago at the lush Luttrellstown Castle near Dublin, Ireland.
The wedding has a hint of medieval theme to it, with Victoria wearing a diamond-encrusted crown made of 18-carat gold and a white corset gown. She went down the aisle filled with expensive flowers while classical music was being played in the background. The festive wedding reception was capped with fireworks and the couple stayed for in the castle for the night.
Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker
ICYDK, Sarah Jessica Parker is married to actor Matthew Broderick for more than 20 years now. They exchanged vows back in 1997 in a very private ceremony. The shocker, however, was that Jessica wore a black wedding gown. Back then, unconventional gowns like hers are considered brow-raising.
Parker later revealed that she regretted wearing a black gown for her wedding day and that she would wear white when time comes they have to renew their vows.
Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian
Before Kim Kardashian became the wife to Kanye West and a mother to their kids, she was married to Kris Humphries. The couple spent more than 4 million dollars for their wedding but it’s never an issue for them.
The breakdown: $2.5 million on Kim’s diamond head-dress, $2 million on flowers, $10,000 on invitation, and $6,000 on cake. But expensive weddings don’t guarantee a lasting marriage as Kim ended her marriage to the Atlanta Hawks player less than 3 months after.
Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar
If most of us only have a wedding day, Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar had a wedding week! The British actress and Indian businessman started their series of weddings in an Anglican ceremony back in 2007 with guest list full of A List people including Sir Elton John, Valentino, and Elle Macpherson among others.
After their wedding in the UK, the couple flew to Jodphur, India where they celebrated a traditional Indian wedding that went on for six days. Their lavish Indian wedding was adorned with dancing white horses and chili peppers lined on walkways. The couple, however, ended their marriage three years later.
Britney Spears and Jason Alexander
Arguably the craziest celebrity wedding in recent history, Britney Spears wed her friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas one inebriated night 13 years ago. As soon as sobriety kicked in, the couple reflected on their poor judgment that they decided to call their marriage quits after 55 hours.
But then, Spears had to do it… again. After her whirlwind romance with Alexander, Spears married her back-up dancer Kevin Federline in a secret ceremony on September, 2004. This marriage, too, didn’t last for long.
